Cansas and his Family

Cansas, the horse with previous wounds, has happily be saved by "100 Horses on the Grass" and was operated on. He returned to his new home February 5, 2007. http://www.100chevaux.org/retourcliniqueca.html
He receives daily care : http://www.100chevaux.org/cansassoins.html which will take many long months.
100 Horses on the Grass needs all our help to build a covered track on which the horses can walk when the weather is inclement and they can’t go out. Their health certainly needs the track ; the horses suffer from arthritis and are thus obliged to walk several hours a day. http://www.100chevaux.org/pagetest.html
Don’t forget, every Sunday afternoon, you can visit this place, and eat at the cafeteria. http://www.100chevaux.org/cafeteria.html
If you are far from Belgium, you can subscribe to the organization for 13 euros a year, and sponsor a horse for 13 euros per month. Each gesture matters for the happiness of the horses who have see so much misfortune.

Colors and Tastes of Iran

First, a photo of light sweets, to give you an appetite !


To celebrate the New Year, Nowrouz, a special table must be prepared, many days beforehand. On this table, beautifully arranged, must be seven items whose names begin with the letter "s" : sabzi, a pot of cereals and leguminous sprouts, which will then be thrown into running water 13 days later at a picnic ; sumanu, a cake ; senjed, a dried fruit, sir, or garlic. Also sib, an apple ; samac, small peppercorns; serkeh, vinegar ; sonbol, a hyacinth ; and sekkeh, small bits.


The last Wednesday preceding Nowrouz- New year’s Day- it’s the custom to jump over a fire, as if one wanted to adopt its colour and vigour.


On this day, one eats sabzi polo mahi (fine herbs, rice, and fish) as it is a day of feasting, preceeded by a great Spring Cleaning.

From Iran there comes to us traditional music, as well as singers whose voices are marvelous. Gougouch, one of the best known, and Marzieh, and many others too.

Recipe - Coucou Sabzi

Iranian, of course. Coucou for the omelette, and sabzi fo rthe herbs.
You take two bunches of parsley, one of basil ; wash them and dry them, take the leaves and chop finely. You must have patience, the best is to do this while sipping a good tea.
Then, mix the herbs, finely chopped, with eggs, almost a dozen depending on the quantity of herbs.
You cook them in a frying pan, on both sides, over a slow flame so they don’t stick.
Eat with rice, hot or cold, it’s a real treat.
